Job summary

Reflection, a leading AI research lab, seeks a Data Product counsel to guide legal support for data acquisition and AI model development across product teams. You will translate US and international laws for data usage, licensing, and agentic/search features, building policies with data, training, and engineering teams while ensuring responsible model releases.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active bar membership (or in-house registration) in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Approximately 10+ years of experience product counselling and advising in tech, AI, or related fields.
• Strong experience in product, regulatory, IP, privacy, and compliance risk management.
• Experience advising on U.S. and international AI data-use laws, policy or regulatory matters.
• Ability to work independently in evolving legal landscapes and explain complex requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Reflection’s primary legal contact for data-related AI products and training.
• Advise on agentic and search-based product proposals and evolving regulatory areas.
• Provide guidance on IP, privacy, licensing, and AI regulation risks.
• Design data integrity standards and compliant data-use policies with product teams.
• Help implement risk-based compliance posture for AI data requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable responsible model releases.
• Advise on legal aspects in partnerships, data-sharing, and collaborations.
• Monitor developments from US, EU, UK authorities and translate into practical guidance.
