Job summary

Enfield Council invites applications for an AI and Automation Apprentice within its Digital Services team. The role focuses on identifying opportunities, analysing processes and supporting the rollout of low-code and AI-enabled solutions to improve productivity and service delivery.

You will work under supervision across projects, contribute to testing and documentation, and ensure governance and data protection standards are met while developing practical digital transformation skills.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (grade 4/C or above).
• Interest in AI and its continued emergence.
• Applicants based in the Enfield postcode/catchment area.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities where AI, automation and digital tools could improve services, productivity, accuracy and customer/staff experience.
• Map and review processes, user needs and data to define requirements.
• Support workshops, solution design, pilots and proofs of concept; evaluate tools against needs, costs and risks.
• Configure and implement low-code, no-code, automation and AI solutions under supervision.
• Plan testing, record results, support user testing and ensure solutions are reliable and secure.
• Follow policies and governance for responsible AI, data protection and information security.
• Support risk assessments, maintain records and consider fairness, bias and transparency.
• Create process maps, training materials and technical notes for colleagues.
• Monitor outcomes, report benefits and issues, and drive improvements.
• Work with colleagues and approved suppliers, manage workload and explain tech clearly.
• Complete apprenticeship learning, reviews and portfolio evidence; stay updated with AI developments.
