Job Title: Agricultural / Commercial Underwriter

Location: Remote (Northallerton Office)

Role Summary

To provide underwriting and development support to our customers and key stakeholders across the business, focusing on our suite of core products. To provide a professional and comprehensive underwriting and administration service within the business, with strong emphasis on underwriting excellence, customer service, and broker development.

Role Responsibilities

• Develop, negotiate, and support the underwriting of new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments within own authority and in line with strategy.
• Control and underwrite new business and renewal book within authority and in line with strategy.
• Plan, prioritize, and manage individual own work to deliver agreed objectives and meet SLAs to deliver exceptional customer service.
• Liaise with brokers daily, answering incoming telephone calls and building lasting professional relationships with brokers to ensure mutual success.
• Work periodically with the management team to review our proposition and make recommendations.
• Support with Policy Issuance.

Compliance

• Establish and maintain knowledge of internal controls and all procedures relating to underwriting.
• Ensure you uphold Imperium’s principle of Treating Customers Fairly.
• Undertake training relevant to the role.

Education and Qualifications

• Strong technical underwriting expertise in a commercial insurance environment, with at least 5 years’ underwriting experience.
• Good experience of underwriting and risk management principles, with sound knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements for insurance.
