Job summary

The University of Sheffield's Data Connect team seeks a proactive Research Project Manager to coordinate a multi-disciplinary group of data managers, data scientists and data engineers in a hybrid, full-time role. You will translate researcher needs into agile workflows and deliver governance and data access across 50+ active projects.

Reporting to the Senior Research Project Manager, you will engage with academic researchers and NHS partners, manage sprint cycles, risks and milestones, and help

Qualifications

• Demonstrable expertise in directly managing and delivering projects of varying size and complexity.
• Experience with multi-disciplinary teams (e.g. data scientists, engineers, data managers).
• Awareness of data protection and governance in research/health contexts.
• Solid experience with agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and tools (Jira, GitHub).
• Ability to identify, track, report and mitigate risks, dependencies and issues.
• Excellent communication to engage with senior academic researchers and NHS partners.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary initial point of contact for researchers approaching Data Connect.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary team to break down projects into tasks and sprints.
• Maintain Jira workflows and track progress across 50+ active projects.
• Manage capacity and resource allocation, communicating risks and dependencies early.
• Collaborate with academic researchers and NHS partners to support governance and data access.
