Job summary

The University of Sheffield IT Services is seeking a delivery-focused Programme Manager to lead the Operating Model Programme. You will map dependencies, manage risks, and report to senior stakeholders to keep delivery on track within an agile, outcomes-based environment.

Permanent role with responsibilities across governance, budgeting, stakeholder engagement and cross-workstream coordination, aligning plans to the portfolio roadmap. Hybrid/ flexible working is available.

Qualifications

• Significant experience managing complex programmes within large organisations.
• Knowledge of programme management methods, processes and governance.
• Ability to identify, track and manage dependencies and risks across multiple workstreams.
• Ability to report to senior stakeholders in written and spoken forms.
• Experience in agile, product-led or outcomes-based delivery.

Responsibilities

• Proactively map, track and manage dependencies across all workstreams.
• Support governance reporting, decisions and assurance processes.
• Monitor progress against plans and address schedule slippage.
• Identify and mitigate risks and issues; escalate when needed.
• Collaborate with workstream leads to align plans with the portfolio roadmap.
• Maintain core artefacts (plan, RAID log, dependency map, benefits tracker).
• Prepare clear reporting on status, progress, risks for diverse audiences.
• Plan and coordinate programme communications to keep stakeholders informed.
• Support budget and resource monitoring against plan.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders to enable delivery.
