Job summary

The University of Sheffield's Data Connect team is seeking a dynamic Research Project Manager to coordinate a large, multidisciplinary data team across 50+ active projects. You will work with the Senior Research Project Manager to embed agile workflows, manage governance with NHS partners, and ensure timely delivery from scoping through to completion.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate direct project delivery experience, strong Agile knowledge, and excellent communication across researchers,

Qualifications

• Directly managing and delivering projects of varying size and complexity.
• Experience with technical or multi-disciplinary teams and workload planning.
• Awareness of data protection and governance in research/health contexts (UK GDPR).
• Strong knowledge of agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and collaboration tools (Jira, GitHub).
• Proven ability to identify, track, report and mitigate risks, dependencies, and issues.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with senior researchers and external NHS partners.

Responsibilities

• Engage with researchers to define project workflows, scope, and timelines.
• Coordinate a multi-disciplinary team to break down projects into tasks and sprint plans.
• Manage a portfolio of 50+ active projects with visibility on risks and dependencies.
• Liaise with academic researchers and NHS stakeholders to support governance and data access.
• Contribute to service design, process improvements, and documentation.
• Document project progress, actions, and outcomes; maintain clear information flow.
