Job Description:

Prospero Teaching is recruiting individuals to work as Teaching Assistants on a flexible supply basis at a specialist high school in Tameside. This role is suited for those who cannot commit to full-time work or prefer the flexibility to choose their own shifts.

The school caters to children aged 11-16 with moderate and complex learning difficulties, including those on the autism spectrum. The curriculum is tailored to student needs, offering a supportive learning environment.

As an Ad-Hoc Teaching Assistant, you will be assigned where needed and will perform all standard duties of a Teaching Assistant. We value candidates who are eager, confident, and proactive, able to use their initiative based on experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating with your consultant weekly to confirm availability and being on standby from 7am for morning calls about available shifts.
• Providing tailored support to children and students with special educational needs (SEN).
• Creating a safe, engaging environment that promotes fun, learning, and success.
• Offering academic support on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
• Assisting the teaching staff as needed.

Ideal candidate qualities:

• Possessing nurturing qualities essential for working closely with SEN children.
• Previous experience caring for individuals with additional needs is preferred.
• Having a Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.
