Job summary

LEO Academy Trust is recruiting a Playworker for Hurst Park Primary Academy on a fixed-term contract during the academic year. The role is term-time only, with 11.5 hours weekly distributed across mornings and afternoons.

You will supervise and actively engage pupils, helping them develop socially through play, with a focus on safety, wellbeing and positive interactions with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of working within a childcare or play provision.
• Sensitivity and calmness under busy conditions.
• Strong communications with children, parents and colleagues.
• Basic IT skills for simple tasks on devices.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organise engaging play activities for primary-aged children.
• Set up safe and inviting play areas and equipment.
• Prepare and serve snacks and refreshments.
• Talk with children about worries or concerns, offering support.
• Manage behaviour and respond to minor injuries or emergencies.
• Build positive relationships with parents and carers.
