RootWave seeks a field service and technical support engineer to be the bridge between machines in the orchard and our engineering team. Based in Kineton, you will assist distributors, dealers and growers, resolving mechanical issues remotely and on site, and you will help interpret customer feedback for the next product upgrades.
With travel to UK sites year round and occasional European trips, you’ll work hands-on on builds, assemblies and fittings between field visits.
RootWave kills weeds with electricity instead of chemicals. The technology is patented, it’s winning awards, and it’s now going out to growers across Europe as a commercial product rather than a demonstrator.
A small team currently covers aftersales, field service and technical support for the entire installed base. This will be a key hire to support those functions.
You’ll be the link between machines in the field and the engineering team at Kineton.
That means providing technical support to distributors, dealers and growers - remotely where you can, on site when needed. We need somebody who can address engineering related issues (mechanical), interpret what a customer is telling you, work out what’s actually happening, and - for more complex cases - elevate the issue and be the bridge to RootWave's other engineering teams.
With some significant upgrades coming, there’ll be a real volume of hands-on work alongside the support side. Between field trips you’ll be based at Kineton, working on the machines directly; build, assembly, fitting and general mechanical work.
You’ll get the chance to see directly how this cutting edge technology behaves in real orchards and vineyards, with your learnings and insights helping to shape future product developments.
Formal qualifications aren’t imperative. What matters more is adaptability, resourcefulness, and knowing when to elevate versus tackling something yourself.
With this being a small team, you’ll need to arrive able to hit the ground running and often work unsupervised. Hours can fluctuate and be season affected; normal for much of the year, but with greater unpredictability and sometimes longer days during peak periods. There’s UK travel year-round and European trips roughly every four to six weeks.
