Job summary

Kington St Michael CE Primary School is seeking a warm, energetic after school club leader to run the daily programme for 4–11 year olds. This permanent, term-time role offers a supportive team and the chance to create engaging activities after the school day.

You'll supervise, plan activities, provide refreshments and ensure safety, with training including first aid and food-handling. 14-16 hours weekly, with potential extra hours.

Salary: Grade F – Grade G (from £14.59 per hour) £28,153 - £32,046 per annum pro rata, depending on experience

Hours: 14-16 hours per week | Term-time only, Monday–Thursday: 3.10pm–6.10pm, Friday: 3.10pm–5.10pm

We are looking for a warm, energetic and reliable person to lead our friendly After School Club at Kington St Michael CE Primary School.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants a rewarding role within our small, welcoming village school. You will have the opportunity to plan and provide engaging activities, build positive relationships with our children and play an important part in making their time at the club happy, enjoyable and memorable.

About the Role

Alongside a helpful and caring assistant, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the After School Club, with support from the school. You will welcome and care for children aged 4–11, organise fun and engaging activities, supervise play, prepare refreshments and ensure that children are safe, happy and well cared for.

The After School Club currently accommodates up to 16 children per day.

An important part of the role will be creating a warm, positive and inclusive environment where children can relax and enjoy themselves at the end of the school day.

Who Are We Looking For?

Previous experience of working with children is essential, although direct experience of running an after-school club is not.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with children aged 4–11, whether this has been in a school, nursery, childcare, youth work, sports, holiday club or similar setting.

We are looking for someone who is caring, patient and understanding, as well as energetic, enthusiastic and creative. You will need to be reliable and responsible, have a positive and flexible attitude, and be confident working both independently and as part of a team.

Full training and support will be provided where required, including first aid and food-handling training.

There may also be opportunities for occasional additional hours through breakfast club or temporary TA cover, depending on experience and school requirements. These additional hours cannot be guaranteed.
