Job summary

Oxford Active Limited is running an After School Club at West Oxford Primary School in Oxford. The role involves assisting with the club after school hours, delivering safe and engaging activities for children aged 3–11, and ensuring a welcoming, fun environment.

Hours are 3–6pm on weekdays during school term time, with roles available 1–3 days a week or occasional cover. DBS checks are required and training will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Experience with 3–11 year old children in a play environment.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels, particularly with children.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • NVQ Level 2 Playwork/Childcare desirable but not essential.
  • Willingness to undertake appropriate training is essential.
  • All staff to pass safeguarding checks including enhanced DBS Disclosure.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team to devise and plan activities for children.
  • Deliver safe, creative play opportunities in a fun and caring environment.
  • Assist with safe arrival and handover of children to carers.
  • Keep children safe and minimise risks in the play area.
  • Provide snacks/refreshments to children.
  • Administer first aid as appropriate.
  • Tidy rooms at the end of the day.
  • Adhere to all policies and safeguarding responsibilities.

Job description

Location: Active Clubs at West Oxford Primary School, Ferry HInksey Road, Oxford, OX2 0BY
Pay: £12.16 - £14.24 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay
Hours: 3-6pm on weekdays during school term time.

Job Purpose

To assist with the running of the After School Club in order to provide a safe, welcoming and fun place for children to relax and play after school each day.

Key Duties
  • Working as part of a team to devise and plan activities that will engage and challenge children attending the club
  • Taking part in the delivery of safe, creative, appropriate play opportunities in a fun and caring environment
  • Helping ensure safe arrival of children at the club and the safe delivery to carers at end of day
  • Keeping children safe and minimising risks in the play environment
  • Providing snacks/refreshments to the children
  • Administering first aid as appropriate
  • Being responsible for tidying rooms at the end of the day
  • Carrying out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework
  • Working within all company policies and procedures, with particular reference to safeguarding responsibilities for the children in our care
Person Specification
  • Experience or working with 3 – 11 year old children in a play environment
  • Ability to communicate at all levels, particularly with children
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • An appropriate qualification in Playwork or Childcare at NVQ Level 2 or the equivalent is desirable but not essential
  • Willingness to undertake appropriate training is essential
  • All staff need to pass strict safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS Disclosure

You will be supported by our team at Head Office and the club team and we will offer training opportunities such as Safeguarding, Food Hygiene and Paediatric First Aid
