Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in Derby is hiring a Fan & Compressor Aerothermal Engineer on a permanent, full‑time basis. You will lead the aerothermal design, conduct CFD analyses, and develop in-house tools to predict gas path performance.

You will collaborate across functions to integrate aero-thermal solutions, assess concepts, and support production as well as in‑service activities. A degree in engineering/physics, plus strong communication skills, is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or Master's in Engineering, Physics or Maths.
Experience in aerothermal design and analysis desirable.
Knowledge of aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and gas dynamics.
Ability to apply analytical and innovative thinking to technical problems.
Good communication and presentation skills at all levels.
Membership of a relevant professional body; UK Chartered status preferred.

Responsibilities

Define aerothermal requirements for fan and compressor systems.
Develop concepts for gas path aerothermal systems and evaluate with analytical methods.
Integrate gas path aerothermal systems with adjacent areas to optimise performance.
Develop capability in people, processes, tools and knowledge management.
Develop in-house aerothermal computational tools (1D to 3D).
Perform technical analysis and validate models against data.
Provide Production and In-Service support including concessions and technical variances.
