Job summary

Rolls-Royce is seeking a Noise Aerothermal Engineer in Derby to own engine noise across development and in-service products. You will predict acoustic performance, verify designs via testing and support certification with flight and static tests.

You will lead technology programmes for low-noise ideas and collaborate with airframe teams, suppliers, and customers to meet demanding timescales while advancing Rolls-Royce acoustic capabilities.

Qualifications

• MEng in Mechanical, Aeronautical Engineering or a related Science or Maths degree.
• Ability to contribute from day one with aeroacoustics, gas turbine cycle design or aerodynamics experience.
• Experience in Gas Turbine full Engine or rig testing and analysis is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical thinking and clear communication of technical ideas.
• Proactive, customer-focused with motivation and initiative.
• Excellent project management and planning skills to meet urgent and long-term needs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for liaising with customers and partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide design advice to meet noise requirements for components.
• Estimate noise performance of new or in-service engines under tight timelines.
• Liaise with programme leadership, internal units, customers and suppliers.
• Manage experimental activities including acquisition and assessment of acoustic data.
• Lead research and technology programmes to generate low-noise solutions.
• Collaborate with partners and academia to advance Noise Capability strategy.
