Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Lab Chemist on a contract basis to support aerospace materials development and testing at our client site in the UK. The role covers analysis of metal finishing baths, development of finishing processes, and technical reporting, with SOPs and site expertise in metal finishing.

The successful candidate will support Nadcap audits, manage effluent operations, and drive root-cause investigations.

Qualifications

• A Level qualifications in Chemistry and Maths.
• A further qualification in Chemistry or Metal Finishing is advantageous.
• Understanding of laboratory and analytical techniques.
• Theoretical knowledge of the main branches of chemistry.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical analysis of metal finishing bath contents and ensure they meet specs.
• Develop metal finishing processes to optimise production and write technical reports.
• Create and maintain control measures to ensure compliance with laws.
• Perform periodic testing for corrosion and coating weight specifications.
• Manage Effluent Plant operations to meet legal requirements.
• Lead root cause investigations to prevent recurrence of failures.
• Create and amend SOPs and Work Instructions.
• Act as site technical expert in metal finishing and chemical processing.
• Support Nadcap auditing.
• Assist suppliers with technical queries.
