Job summary

NewOrbit Space is seeking a hands-on technician to perform precision mechanical assembly, integration, and test support for the AURA X satellite and thruster system. You will handle flight hardware from assembly to test, and support goods-in inspection with rigorous traceability.

This role sits within a lean AIT team and collaborates with design, propulsion, and satellite groups. You will maintain contamination control, perform cleanroom duties, and contribute to hardware readiness for vibration

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience in precision mechanical assembly of flight/higher-reliability hardware.
• Experience applying and recording torques with calibrated tooling.
• Experience working in a cleanroom or ISO-classified environment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings including GD&T callouts.
• Experience building and operating mechanical test fixtures and GSE.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
• ESD-aware working practices.
• Safety-first mindset around structural tests, pressurised systems and vacuum environments.

Responsibilities

• Precision mechanical assembly of satellite structure, subsystems, and propulsion components to drawings and procedures.
• Apply and record fastener torques using calibrated tooling per procedures and drawings.
• Handle flight hardware in accordance with contamination control and cleanliness requirements.
• Maintain cleanroom operations, including gowning and logging to ISO class requirements.
• Install thermal blankets (MLI) and other thermal control hardware per procedure.
• Build mechanical test fixtures, jigs, and GSE from drawings and instructions.
• Support vibration, shock, and structural test campaigns, including fixture build and accelerometer placement.
• Support integration of propulsion system into satellite structure.
• Maintain as-built records, travelers, torque records, and non-conformance reports for traceability.
• Inspect and photograph hardware at assembly stages; flag non-conformances.
