Job summary

Safran Electronics & Defence is seeking skilled Fitter/Testers to join the GDS team at our Wolverhampton facility. You will assemble and test high-lift actuation products and sub-assemblies, working to engineering drawings and process plans in a regulated aerospace production environment.

In this role you will diagnose faults, conduct functional and pressure tests, maintain traceability, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Engineering discipline.
• Strong mechanical assembly or repair experience in a precision environment.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and process plans.
• Good understanding of mechanical assemblies and hydraulic systems.
• Aerospace/Defence manufacturing background preferred.
• Attention to detail with a quality-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, strip, assemble and rebuild aircraft units and sub-assemblies using approved techniques.
• Assemble high-lift units in accordance with drawings and manuals.
• Carry out functional, acceptance and pressure testing with calibrated equipment.
• Record test results and maintain full traceability through production docs.
• Diagnose faults and support repair activities throughout production and overhaul.
• Assess components against engineering requirements and identify non-conformances.
• Complete repairs per aerospace quality standards and procedures.
• Support stock control and ensure safe handling of materials and tooling.
• Maintain a safe, clean working environment in line with HSE.
• Participate in Lean initiatives and workshop improvement projects.
• Support team objectives and help achieve production targets.
