Newcastle Foodbank want to recruit an Advocacy and Well-Being Support Worker to its Pathways project and invite applications from suitably experienced and competent candidates.
Our Charity, established in 2013, provides services to people experiencing food insecurity and poverty. Newcastle Foodbank wish to recruit an Advocacy and Well-Being Support Worker’ to assist the welfare team to provide client support. The Advocacy role will support the Pathways Manager, a team of Welfare Advisors and volunteers to coordinate project administration and update project information systems. The post involves coordination of client appointments within the Foodbank’s Hubs, and liaison with referral agencies to monitor progress and record outcomes for clients during their Pathways journey.
The primary purpose of this role is to support the Foodbank’s welfare team to help people tackle the causes of food insecurity and financial hardship. Our Pathways team provides triage and support to ensure people can access services to help with welfare benefit queries or get advice on debt management. The role will support the Pathways team to deliver a person-centred service tailored to help people move beyond the need to visit a food bank.
In the last 12 months Newcastle Foodbank issued approximately 20,000 food parcels to assist individuals and households affected by poverty. Demand for the Foodbank’s services and welfare support has increased due to the rising costs of living and the low levels of income experienced by many households.

Hours: 30 hours per week – Monday to Thursday. Initial Fixed Term contract for 1 year with possible extension depending on funding.
Salary: £24,570 per annum (pro-rata £19,656) paid monthly. Probationary period 6 months.
