A leading healthcare provider seeks an Advanced Therapy Quality Scientist to join their GMP Unit, focusing on cell and gene therapies for early phase clinical trials. This role offers opportunities for professional development while ensuring compliance with GMP standards. Ideal candidates should possess a relevant degree and experience in quality control assays, alongside strong teamwork and communication skills.
The Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Unit at Guy’s Hospital was formed to accelerate the translation of novel approaches to the prevention, diagnosis, and therapy of major unmet diseases relevant to the NHS, ultimately contributing to improved patient outcomes. Specialising in developing and manufacturing cell and gene therapies for use in early phase clinical trials, the GMP Unit is looking to appoint an Advanced Therapy Quality Scientist.
The field of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products is expanding rapidly; this position offers an opportunity to broaden your expertise and promote this emerging field. The ideal candidate will have at least a first degree or equivalent and experience in developing or performing quality control assays for cell or gene therapies. You will support the quality control of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) for clinical trials, assist in developing and improving QC methods for testing purity, identity, functionality, and safety of therapies, and play a key role in ensuring GMP compliance.
You will also support clients in developing In-Process Quality Control assays, work as part of a team maintaining GMP facilities and equipment, and contribute to the GMP Pharmaceutical Quality System including change control, deviation management, and document control. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTFT) and King’s College London (KCL) have established a centre focused on translational research, taking advances from basic research into clinical application. The GMP Unit, co-located with the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Guy’s Hospital, is purpose-built for manufacturing somatic cell therapies, gene therapies, and proteins for early-phase clinical trials, serving staff across various departments and trial sites nationwide.
