Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking an Advanced Social Work Practitioner to lead high-risk cases, mentor colleagues and drive service improvement. You will work autonomously on Child in Need, Child Protection and care proceedings, using Signs of Safety to inform robust assessments and child-centred plans.

You will chair multi-agency meetings, complete safeguarding investigations, prepare court reports, and support staff through transitions, while promoting reflective practice and professional

Qualifications

• Substantial experience managing complex high-risk children’s social work cases with autonomy.
• Strong assessment, analytical and evidence-based decision-making skills.
• Experience with Child in Need, Child Protection and care proceedings, including report writing and presenting evidence.
• Confident multi-agency working and ability to build relationships with children, families, carers and professionals.
• Sound understanding of relevant legal, statutory and regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to mentor, support and influence colleagues; commitment to reflective practice.

Responsibilities

• Chair multi-agency meetings and coordinate safeguarding investigations.
• Prepare reports and evidence for court proceedings.
• Support children and families through important transitions.
• Provide advice, guidance and support to junior colleagues; contribute to quality assurance and practice improvement projects.
