Job summary

Navantiauk in the United Kingdom seeks experienced scaffolding professionals to erect, modify and dismantle complex scaffolding per drawings and TG20/SG4 guidelines. You will read technical plans, plan scaffold requirements, and certify handovers while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

The role requires CISRS qualifications and extensive industrial experience, with emphasis on safe practices, permit-to-work systems, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams on naval-related

Qualifications

  • CISRS Advanced Scaffolder qualification is required.
  • Valid CISRS Scaffolder Card is required.
  • Significant experience in industrial/marine/shipbuilding/construction/heavy engineering environments.
  • Extensive TG20, SG4 knowledge and Work at Height Regulations.
  • Ability to read scaffold design drawings and technical plans.
  • Experience inspecting, modifying, and certifying scaffolding structures.
  • Strong understanding of scaffolding materials, loadings and structural principles.
  • Ability to complete scaffold handover certificates and inspection records.
  • Experience leading or supervising scaffolding teams.
  • Good knowledge of site safety procedures and permit-to-work systems.

Responsibilities

  • Erect, modify and dismantle complex scaffolding structures per drawings and TG20/SG4 guidance.
  • Construct various scaffold types including independent, birdcage, cantilever and suspended systems.
  • Read and interpret scaffold design drawings and technical docs.
  • Assess work areas to determine suitable scaffold solutions.
  • Ensure scaffold components are inspected and fit for use.
  • Carry out scaffold inspections before handover and after modifications or adverse weather.
  • Complete handover certificates and inspection reports accurately.
  • Assist in planning scaffold requirements for projects and maintenance.
  • Review risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work requirements.
  • Coordinate scaffold material requirements and ensure efficient use of equipment.
  • Promote safety leadership and ensure compliance with Work at Height Regulations and PPE usage.
  • Participate in safety observations, audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Support ISO45001 and ISO14001 environmental management requirements.
  • Ensure scaffolding works meet approved designs and quality standards.
  • Maintain inspection records and handover documentation.
  • Report quality concerns and participate in corrective actions.

Job description

Scaffolding Operations

Erect, modify and dismantle complex scaffolding structures in accordance with design drawings, TG20 guidance, SG4 requirements, and company procedures.

Construct independent scaffolds, birdcage scaffolds, cantilever scaffolds, suspended scaffolds, temporary roof systems, staircase towers, loading bays, and specialist access structures.

Read and interpret scaffold design drawings, engineering specifications, and technical documentation.

Assess work areas and determine suitable scaffold solutions for operational requirements.

Ensure all scaffolding components are inspected prior to use and are fit for purpose.

Carry out scaffold inspections before handover, following modifications, after adverse weather conditions, and at prescribed intervals.

Complete scaffold handover certificates, inspection reports, and associated records accurately.

Planning and Coordination

Assist in planning scaffold requirements for projects and maintenance activities.

Review risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work requirements.

Coordinate scaffold material requirements and ensure efficient utilisation of equipment.

Health, Safety & Environment

Demonstrate visible safety leadership and promote a positive safety culture.

Ensure all scaffolding activities comply with the Work at Height Regulations, company policies, and site procedures.

Ensure correct use of fall protection equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Participate in safety observations, audits, inspections, and incident investigations as required.

Support compliance with ISO45001, ISO14001, and all environmental management requirements.

Quality

Ensure scaffolding works are completed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and quality standards.

Maintain accurate inspection records, handover documentation, and work completion reports.

Report quality concerns and contribute to corrective and preventive actions when required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • CISRS Advanced Scaffolder qualification.
  • Valid CISRS Scaffolder Card.
  • Significant experience within industrial, marine, shipbuilding, construction, or heavy engineering environments.
