About The Role

Process Modelling Research/Advanced Research Engineer

The NCC is the world-leading authority on composites manufacturing. We're propelling future technologies across various sectors and need the brightest minds in the industry to make it happen.

We're seeking a Process Modelling Engineer or researcher to join a team that contributes vital work to innovative projects with renowned customers across multiple industries. Reporting to the Capability Lead, you'll model composite manufacturing processes digitally, aiming to design, optimize, and improve manufacturing processes for our clients.

While experience with modeling specific composites manufacturing methods is ideal, we value a solid core of relevant skills and will support your development across different manufacturing techniques.

What are we looking for?
  • Academic, industrial, or combined experience—preferably, you hold a Master’s or PhD in composites process modelling or have relevant experience in modelling, simulations, and optimisation.
  • Expertise areas (not limited to) include advanced/technical textiles manufacturing, prepreg/preform manufacturing, moulding, reinforcement and matrix characterization, nano and novel composites, sensors, process control, etc.
  • Industrial experience in fields such as aerospace, wind energy, energy, high-performance automotive, and transportation is advantageous.
  • Experience with data science and machine learning techniques for design or process optimisation is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of process/mathematical modelling fundamentals—ideally in fluid mechanics, thermal modelling, and finite element methods—and solid mathematical skills. Transferable skills are highly valued.
  • Specialization in a specific manufacturing method or broad experience across techniques in composite manufacturing is desirable.

The NCC is a leading manufacturing R&D centre dedicated to turning future ideas into industrial realities. You will develop alongside inspiring experts, making this a significant career step.
