Job summary

Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council is recruiting Experienced/Advanced Social Workers for our Cared for Children’s Service in Knowsley. This role focuses on care planning, safeguarding, and delivering relationship-centered practice within a supportive, improving service.

You will lead complex assessments, coordinate with partner agencies, and mentor colleagues in advanced practice while maintaining manageable caseloads and a strong emphasis on child welfare outcomes.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Experience supporting cared for children and safeguarding.
• Ability to manage complex risk and make decisions.
• Relationship-focused and child-centred practice.
• Strong assessment, analysis and court skills.
• Full driving licence and access to a car.

Responsibilities

• Undertake care planning and reviews for looked after children and young people, ensuring stable placements.
• Lead complex assessments and interventions.
• Support children and young people in understanding their life journey.
• Develop strong, purposeful relationships with children, families and carers.
• Work with partner agencies to manage risk and promote positive outcomes.
• Contribute to service development and practice improvement.
