Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking an experienced Physiotherapist to join the MIU team, providing advanced MSK assessment and management with autonomous decision-making and independent imaging interpretation.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, supporting education and service development while contributing to patient flow and timely evidence-based care. A driving licence is required for this role.

Qualifications

• Registered Physiotherapist with HCPC registration.
• Masters level study or practice at Masters level.
• Postgraduate expertise in musculoskeletal practice.
• Knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist to join the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) team within NHS Lanarkshire.

We are seeking an experienced clinician with a strong musculoskeletal background who is keen to develop or further enhance their advanced practice skills within an established and innovative service. Working autonomously within the MIU, you will assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with a wide range of minor injuries and musculoskeletal conditions, providing high-quality patient-centred care and contributing to service development.

The successful applicant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and play a key role in supporting patient flow, reducing unnecessary admissions, and delivering timely evidence-based care within unscheduled care services.

In this key role, you will:

• Undertake advanced assessment, diagnosis and management of patients presenting with minor injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.
• Independently request and interpret imaging in line with local governance arrangements.
• Make autonomous clinical decisions regarding treatment, referral and discharge.
• Work collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health professional colleagues.
• Support teaching, supervision and development of staff and students.
• Contribute to audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives.

What You’ll Bring:

• Registered Physiotherapist with valid HCPC Registration
• Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level
• Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality.

A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
