Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a motivated Clinical Vascular Scientist to join the Advanced Practice Vascular Sonographers within the Radiology Non-Obstetric Ultrasound Team. The post covers independently performing, interpreting and reporting a wide range of specialised vascular ultrasound investigations.

This cross-site role spans the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, with potential future involvement in the Community Diagnostic

Responsibilities

• Independently perform, interpret and report vascular ultrasound investigations.
• Provide clinical judgment and advise on appropriate clinical actions (e.g., urgent outpatient referral, inpatient admission or surgery).
• Communicate results to clinicians, patients and relatives empathically and clearly.
• Cross-site duties across the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, with potential future Community Diagnostic Centre involvement.
• Assist in day-to-day running of the department, including vetting scan requests for appropriateness and urgency.
• Participate in audits and maintain a CPD portfolio; attend Ultrasound Governance/Audit meetings.
• Participate in training of student radiographers, sonographers and trainees from other disciplines.
