Job overview

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist to take on a dual role combining education and training with advanced clinical practice in our Community Treatment Teams (CTTs) to improve medicines optimisation, enhance patient safety and provide a patient-centred care via a clinical practitioner role within a community treatment team.

Main duties of the job

Support the Lead Pharmacist for Research and Workforce Development in overseeing education and training across undergraduate, foundation, and post-registration programmes.

Manage rotational and multisector placements, ensuring quality and continuity.

Lead on the annual NHSE foundation year training plan submissions, deliver in-house and regional shared learning sessions, and support professional development for pharmacists, trainees, and pharmacy technicians.

Be responsible for the undergraduate MPharm placements in close partnership with our local university pharmacy schools - coordinating resources, supporting students and mentors, delivering pre-placement sessions, and acting on feedback to continually innovate placement delivery along with support for placement timetabling, and assisting with work experience recruitment alongside the specialist technician.

Drive the development of pharmacy education and training, identifying workforce implications of service changes and embedding effective support across the department and keeping staff informed of training developments.

Provide advanced clinical pharmacy practice to a Community Treatment Team, delivering specialist medication advice, reviews, and optimisation, independent prescribing (where applicable), and direct patient care through collaborative, shared decision‑making with the team and external partners.
