Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Advanced HGV Vehicle Technician to join one of the world’s leading logistics organisations for a full-time opportunity. The role involves acting as a senior/foreman-level technician, leading a group of technicians while staying hands-on with maintenance, inspections and repairs.

You will perform PMIs, MOT preparation, complex mechanical repairs including engines and gearboxes, and vehicle diagnostics using JALtest and other manufacturer tools.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in HGV maintenance
• Experience mentoring and supporting a group of technicians
• Level 3 City & Guilds qualification or equivalent
• Completed recognised apprenticeship in HGV or commercial vehicle maintenance
• Experience working on HGVs/commercial vehicles in a vehicle manufacturer, fleet operator, logistics organisation or similar
• Strong hands-on vehicle maintenance, servicing and repair experience
• Experience with PMIs and MOT preparations
• Strong vehicle diagnostics knowledge with computer-based diagnostic tools
• Experience diagnosing and repairing engine and gearbox faults

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of technicians in the workshop and provide day-to-day guidance
• Carry out and oversee PMIs and MOT preparation
• Perform servicing and complex mechanical repairs across the fleet
• Diagnose vehicles using diagnostic tools such as JALtest
• Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, effectively and to standard

The successful candidate will act as a senior/foreman-level technician, helping to lead and support a group of technicians while remaining hands-on across the maintenance, inspection and repair of the commercial vehicle fleet. They will carry out and oversee preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs), MOT preparation, general servicing and complex mechanical repairs, including engine and gearbox repairs. The role will also involve vehicle diagnostics using systems such as JALtest and manufacturer-specific diagnostic tools. In addition to their technical responsibilities, the Advanced HGV Technician will provide day-to-day guidance to the team and help ensure maintenance work is completed safely, effectively and to the required standard.

Must haves:

• 10+ years experience in HGV maintenance
• Experience mentoring and supporting a group of technicians within a workshop environment
• Level 3 City & Guilds qualification, or equivalent recognised HGV/vehicle maintenance qualification
• Completed recognised apprenticeship in HGV or commercial vehicle maintenance
• Previous experience working on HGVs/commercial vehicles within a vehicle manufacturer, fleet operator, logistics organisation or similar environment
• Strong hands-on vehicle maintenance, servicing and repair experience
• Experience with preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs) and MOT preparations
• Strong vehicle diagnostics knowledge and experience using computer-based diagnostic tools
• Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults, including engines and gearboxes
