Job summary

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Colorectal Nurse Practitioner to join the urgent cancer pathway team. The post holder will deliver autonomous nurse-led clinics, assess patients by telephone and in face-to-face clinics, and lead on quality and governance within colorectal services.

Qualifications

• 1st Level registered Nurse.
• Current NMC Registration.
• 1st level degree.
• Evidence of advanced learning at Masters level.
• A portfolio of career-long learning and relevant clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for own actions in accordance with Code of Professional Conduct and will contribute towards corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
• Lead on the co-ordination and nursing care of Colorectal USC patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, the clinical specialist group and clinical services to ensure the effective management of this patient group.
• Utilise advanced health assessment skills to ensure that the optimum physical and psychological needs of the patient are met.
• Where appropriate, initiate investigations on patients to improve access to treatment and report their findings to the appropriate clinician and patients/GPs.
