Job summary

Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in the Emergency General Surgical team at Salford. The role focuses on autonomously assessing and managing emergency surgical patients and supporting Same Day Emergency Care referrals from GPs and NWAS.

It is a permanent part-time position (22.5 hours/week). An MSc in Advanced Practice is essential, though newly qualified ACPs are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• MSc in Advanced Practice is essential.
• V300 non-medical prescribing qualification is required/advantageous.
• Experience as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in general surgery emergency care.
• Able to work independently and autonomously.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Autonomously assess, investigate and manage emergency surgical patients.
• Support Same Day Emergency Care referrals from GPs and NWAS.
• Manage a diverse clinical caseload with patient-centered care.
• Build tailored management plans addressing current issues and preventing future admissions.
• Apply sound clinical reasoning and risk management to avoid admissions.
• Monitor patients on ambulatory pathways.
• Contribute to innovative pathway development across secondary and primary care.

Job description

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner post sits in the Emergency General Surgical team at Salford Care Organisation, part of Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. It centres on autonomously assessing and managing emergency surgical patients and supporting Same Day Emergency Care referrals from GPs and NWAS. • Autonomously assess, investigate and manage the care of emergency surgical patients
• Support Same Day Emergency Care patients, including referrals from GPs and NWAS
• Manage a diverse clinical caseload using patient-centred care and collaborative working with multidisciplinary teams
• Build tailored management plans that address current issues and prevent future ones
• Apply sound clinical reasoning and risk management to avoid admissions safely
• Monitor patients on an ambulatory pathway
• Contribute to innovative pathway development across secondary and primary care
