Job summary

HCRG Care Group is seeking an Adult Speech & Language Therapy Assistant to support adults with acquired neurological conditions. You will work with the SLT to deliver therapy, assist with programmes, and help patients improve communication and swallowing in community and outpatient settings.

The role requires a full UK driving licence, 37.5 hours per week, and a patient-centred, team-based approach within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• GCSE English Grade C or above (or equivalent).
• Excellent IT skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to adapt written and verbal to patient level of understanding.
• Flexible in approach and responsive to changing demands.
• Able to prioritise/time manage.
• Self-evaluate performance and complete programmes independently.
• Gather, analyse and evaluate clinical information with supervision.
• Identify risk and minimise safety effects.
• Contribute in team meetings and clinical discussions.
• Full UK driving licence and access to vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and advice for patients and families about therapy needs under the guidance of the Speech and Language Therapist.
• Handle sensitive information about patients and communicate appropriately.
• Demonstrate empathy and sensitivity to patients and families.
• Maintain up-to-date written electronic records following professional standards.
• Provide education sessions to patients, families, and external organisations.
• Participate in delivery of therapy programmes, both individual and group.
• Pursue ongoing personal development through internal/external opportunities.
• Prioritise clinical work while balancing other patient-related activities.
• Understand capacity and consent principles and apply them in practice.
• Implement therapy across settings including community wards, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, and patients’ homes.
