Job summary

Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to support adults recovering from stroke and neurological conditions in the community across Hertfordshire. You will work with the Integrated Community Stroke Service, delivering rehabilitation programs designed by qualified therapists and managing your own caseload with home visits and group sessions.

The role requires strong communication, compassion, organisational skills, and a full UK driving

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE level including maths and English.
• NVQ level 3 in Diagnostic and Therapeutic support or equivalent.
• Good standard of spoken and written English.
• Experience in a therapy setting and/or SLT support worker role.

Responsibilities

• Deliver rehabilitation programmes delegated by Speech and Language Therapists.
• Manage a delegated caseload and monitor progress.
• Support communication and swallowing difficulties after stroke.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy in community settings.
• Support patients with aphasia and AAC strategies.
• Assist with the development and preparation of therapy resources.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to reports.
• Provide administrative support to the SLT team.
• Work independently within competencies and seek guidance as needed.
• Contribute to the Integrated Community Stroke Service multidisciplinary team.
