The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Social Worker to join our Learning Disabilities Service! Could that be you?

The Learning Disability team based in South Worcestershire are a team focused on supporting and empowering individuals to live their best lives possible. We do this by supporting Individuals to reach their goals and outcomes to maximise their quality of life. Using a unique named worker model, you will have a caseload of individuals who you will work with consistently, promoting relationship-based practice and ensuring continuity for those you support.

We work closely with our colleagues in health, commissioning, safeguarding and other partner agencies to create creative care plans, manage risk, and support people to be in control over their own lives.

We are passionate about the development of staff and are a supportive, dynamic, and person-centred team of practitioners. At present we have staff undertaking apprenticeships to become qualified social workers, staff completing their ASYE and those undertaking BIA training, as well as staff who run reflective sessions in particular areas of interest to them. We have an established career structure in place to help you get where you want to be in your career, for example The Aspiring Managers Programme. We encourage regular reflection with regular reflective practice sessions and have access to the social work academy who offer a range of training opportunities. We also have practice educators in the team and regularly welcome students on placement.

About The Role

Are you a highly motivated social worker with experience of strengths-based practice, who is interested in furthering your professional development in a dynamic national award nominated team by undertaking statutory social work?

Working in line with the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and Community DOL’s, whist also referring and adhering to other areas of law such as the Mental Health Act 1983.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for the development of highly competent levels of skill in assessment, support planning, intervention, and evaluation through working in complex situations. The role includes working collaboratively with our Herefordshire & Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust colleagues, who provide specialist Learning Disability services across the County.

As a social worker within this team, you will need to have the ability to be creative, innovative and search for creative solutions. You will play a key role in improving Learning Disability services and outcomes for the people of South Worcestershire. You will bring a distinctive social and rights-based perspective to your work, through advanced relationship-based skills, with a focus on personalisation and follow the principles of the 3 Conversation Model. You will be supported in developing your analytical and professional judgement skills and application of a range of social interventions that promote independence.
