Job overview

This is a great opportunity for a full-time (10PA) Consultant for a new 18 bedded Male Working Age Adult Acute Ward, based in Derby. This is an exciting time to work for Derbyshire Healthcare. We are currently undertaking a programme to create purpose-built facilities to improve the safety, privacy and dignity for our adult acute mental health patients, by eradicating dormitory accommodation.

This will be an 18 bedded male ward focused on therapeutic interventions and will deliver care to national recommendations. The unit is due to open in approximately December 2024, therefore this will be a great opportunity for you to shape the service and build the team along with the Ward Manager and other senior leaders.

You will work alongside others to establish and develop this new ward for Derbyshire and collaborate with an innovative and forward-thinking programme team and senior leaders.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will take a key role in the Department, providing clinical leadership to their own team and those within The Working Age Adult Acute Directorate, with which they will be working and supporting current and future service developments.

Working in accordance with our people first approach you will lead by example, acting as a role model within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to ensure the highest level of clinical standards.

The unit will support patients with mental health conditions who need treatment and support as an inpatient, provided within a safe and stable environment for their recovery. You will lead the team and support the wider MDT to create an environment where we are able to acknowledge our service users' cultures, life experiences, protected characteristics and their strengths to help promote their recovery.

The culture and ethos of approach within our adult acute service is aimed at ensuring that co-production of care with our service users is an essential and key part of their recovery journey. The MDT will involve both the service users, their carers, alongside clinicians and specialist practitioners as well as external agencies to ensure that individual recovery care plans are individual, co-produced, therapeutic and effective.

Please enquire about our generous relocation package.

Working for our organisation

We put a high emphasis on quality of care, peer support and on clinical engagement in service development and management. We will welcome candidates who bring an enthusiasm for innovation, teaching and development and can work closely with colleagues from different professional backgrounds.

Join 'Team Derbyshire Healthcare' and become part of a talented, compassionate and enthusiastic workforce committed to a vision of ‘making a positive difference in people's lives’.

Benefits include:
• Commitment to flexible working where this is possible
• 33 days annual leave/year plus bank holidays, increasing to 35 days after 7 years service in the grade.
• Yearly appraisal and commitment to ongoing training
