Job description

General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist – Wren Ward

This is a full-time (10 PA) Consultant position for a new 18-bed Male Working Age Adult Acute Ward, based in Derby. Derbyshire Healthcare is currently developing purpose-built facilities to enhance safety, privacy, and dignity for adult acute mental health patients, including a new state-of-the-art unit at Kingsway Hospital, Derby, opening around December 2024. This role offers an excellent opportunity to shape the service and build the team alongside the Ward Manager and senior leaders.

You will collaborate with a forward-thinking programme team and senior leaders to establish and develop this new ward, providing clinical leadership within the Department and supporting service developments. You will lead by example within a multidisciplinary team (MDT), ensuring high clinical standards.

The ward will serve patients with mental health conditions requiring inpatient treatment in a safe environment supporting recovery. You will promote a culture of co-production of care, involving service users, carers, clinicians, and external agencies to create personalized, therapeutic recovery plans.
