No two cases will be the same. Your role will include:
The technical requirements matter, but how you work with people matters just as much.
You’ll need to be:
People may come to us experiencing significant distress. You’ll be able to listen, reassure and support without making assumptions or judgements.
You’ll be exposed to sensitive and sometimes difficult circumstances. You’ll need the resilience to remain composed, professional and focused on the needs of the individual.
You'll adapt the way you communicate depending on whether you're supporting an adult, a child, a family member or working with another professional.
You'll understand that different people require different approaches to communication, reassurance and support.
Alongside the human side of the role, there are important administrative, forensic and procedural requirements, so attention to detail is essential.
You'll work within a multi-agency environment alongside healthcare professionals, Police and other services.
Please note, all successful candidates will be subject to pre-employment checks including an Enhanced DBS check, two satisfactory references, and Police vetting NVVP Level 2 checks.
An Adult & Paediatric Crisis Worker isn't simply there to manage a process. You're there for the person going through it.
You'll support adults, children and families attending a Sexual Assault Referral Centre, often at an incredibly difficult and vulnerable time.
From the moment someone contacts the service, you'll help create a safe, calm and supportive environment. You'll explain what happens next, advocate for their needs and choices, and support them through the practical and emotional aspects of attending the SARC, including where appropriate their forensic medical examination.
You'll need empathy, but you'll also need resilience. Warmth, but also professional boundaries. The ability to listen, while still ensuring important procedures and records are completed accurately.
You could be a strong fit if you have experience in administration, social care, healthcare, safeguarding or support work and you're comfortable supporting people in challenging situations. The existing advert specifically identifies those backgrounds as relevant.

Monday-Sunday, shift pattern 9-5, 5-1, 1-9 – primarily weekends and evenings 24 hours a week, as part of a 24/7 service
You'll join us on a flexible zero-hours basis, covering a mixture of day, evening, overnight and weekend shifts. Current shift patterns are 9am–5pm, 5pm–1am and 1am–9am.
You don't need to arrive knowing everything about working in a SARC. You'll receive training to help you understand the specialist environment and build the confidence needed for the role. You'll also be working as part of a wider service alongside healthcare professionals and partner agencies.
What we need from you is the right foundation: compassion, resilience, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to supporting people when they may be at their most vulnerable.
