Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our Adoption team as a Casual Non-Agency Adoption Social Worker. This flexible casual role suits practitioners who want to maintain specialist adoption knowledge while balancing other commitments.

You will build relationships with children and families, undertake robust non-agency adoption assessments, and support permanence and legal arrangements, including step-parent adoptions, with a child-centred approach.

Qualifications

• Have a formal Social Work Qualification and several years post qualifying experience of working within Children’s Social Care Service settings.
• Experience of the provision of adoption services and/or adoption assessment, especially with non-agency adoption applicants.
• Understand relevant legislation, regulations and statutory guidance relating to non-agency adoption.
• Ability to undertake robust non-agency adoption assessments; produce timely, high-quality written work and manage a diary.
• Participate in supervision, learning and development to maintain professional registration.
• Promote the Council's values and principles in all work.
• Be able to travel to locations throughout the County and work outside of normal hours if required.

• Support permanence, stability and security through adoption, including non-agency arrangements.
• Build meaningful relationships with children and families and work flexibly to meet case needs.
• Ensure high professional standards and timely case handling in allocation and deadlines.
