Job summary

Southend Council is seeking a permanent, full-time Social Worker for the Adolescent Intervention Prevention Team. The role focuses on flexibly and creatively working with teenagers, with a strong track record of partnership work to divert youth from risk and exploitation.

The successful candidate will assess and casework for children and young people, upholding professional standards and applying restorative practice. Hybrid on-site work is available, and a car is essential.

Qualifications

• You must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.
• Knowledge of child protection, looked after children and related social work practice.
• Knowledge, experience and understanding of working with young people at risk of exploitation and contextual risks.
• Contemporary knowledge of social work interventions, methods and models including restorative practice, systemic thinking and motivational interviewing.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional and comprehensive assessments and casework to a caseload of children and young people to disrupt risks and improve safety and outcomes.
• Ensure high professional standards and knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and practice methods.
• Carry out investigations, evaluations and analyses with clear assessments and action plans.
