Job summary

NICE – The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence in Manchester is seeking an Administrator to provide high-quality administrative support within the Technology Appraisals programme. You will work with internal and external stakeholders, manage diaries, prepare papers, and help organise project activities.

The role emphasises attention to detail, multi-project support, and the ability to coordinate across teams within a supportive and inclusive NHS environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support within the Project Team in the Technology Appraisals programme.
  • Develop and administer systems within the centre/directorate.
  • Plan and organise activities and day-to-day work.
  • Provide efficient administrative and secretarial support, including papers and diary management.
  • Handle day-to-day enquiries by email and liaise with stakeholders.

The Medicines Evaluation Directorate (MED) develops guidance and advice on the use of new and existing medicines (including highly specialised medicines), treatments, medical devices, diagnostics and surgical procedures within the NHS.

The Technology Appraisals programme within MED advises the NHS and patients on the clinical and cost effectiveness of the technologies reviewed and their optimal position in clinical practice.

Main duties of the job
  • Providing administrative support within the Project Team in the Technology Appraisals programme. Working daily with internal and external stakeholders to provide high-quality support, with close attention to detail.
  • Developing and administering systems within the centre/directorate
  • Planning and organising activities and own day-to-day work
  • Providing efficient and effective administrative and secretarial support to team members, including preparing correspondence and papers, collating, copying and distributing papers and managing diaries
  • Dealing with day-to-day enquiries by email, referring to other members of the team as appropriate
  • Responding to queries, tailoring the approach to meet the needs of different groups/individuals
  • Regular written and verbal liaison with committee members
  • Liaising with a range of stakeholders both externally and internally Managing correspondence for their area of work
  • Providing cover and deputising for the Assistant Project Manager in their absence
  • Assisting in the induction and training of new and temporary members of staff
