Job summary

A regional mental health trust is seeking a dynamic administration apprentice to support their Medical Education Department. You will participate in a Business Administration Apprenticeship while providing essential clerical support and assisting in training and supervision for medical students. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills and a solid understanding of Microsoft Office. This full-time role will be based at various locations across Kent including Maidstone.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the Medical Education Team.

  • Attend meetings and training sessions for the Apprenticeship.

Job description

Please note, at this stage, the role is open only to internal staff (including NHSP and Agency staff currently on placement within our organisation) and staff substantively employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB). Any individual who is at risk of redundancy will be given priority, provided they meet the essential criteria.

Role Overview

We are looking for a dynamic, self‑motivated, forward‑thinking administration apprentice to join our Medical Education Department. The role will be based at either the Elizabeth Raybould Centre in Dartford, St Martin's Hospital in Canterbury or Farm Villa in Maidstone (this is negotiable). It is a full‑time post (37.5 hours per week).

Responsibilities
  • Study for a Business Administration Apprenticeship at level 3.
  • Provide an efficient and effective clerical and administrative support service to the Medical Education Team in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Assist and support the Director of Medical Education (DME), Medical Education Manager (MEM), Director of Undergraduate Medical Education (DUME), Undergraduate Manager, Undergraduate Locality Leads, Medical Education Leads, and Deputy Medical Education Manager to run the Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust Rotational Training Scheme regarding training and educational supervision for all resident doctors and medical students in Psychiatry.
  • Communicate with staff, managers, doctors and Medical students, both written and verbally in a professional, sensitive and courteous manner, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Attend regular meetings with the supervisor and assessor and attend training sessions leading to an Apprenticeship in Business Administration Level 3 with bespoke administration units.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational and keyboard skills, be a competent typist, possess a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, pay attention to detail, be able to work to tight deadlines and adapt to changing/challenging situations.
