Job description

Our client, HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS), is an agency of the Ministry of Justice. HMCTS provides administrative support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice works for everyone.

Our justice system defends our fundamental rights and freedoms. It is a cornerstone of our modern society and must serve all who call on it, whether vulnerable individuals, families in crisis, claimants, or commercial businesses. HMCTS has a responsibility to administer an accessible and efficient justice system.

Our public sector client is seeking a temporary admin officer to join their team until September 2025, with a possibility of extension based on business needs. This full-time role (Monday - Friday, 9-5) offers a pay rate of £12.53 per hour, paid weekly. The position is office-based at GU1 4PS.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings, and meetings.
  • Creating and updating records on the in-house computer system.
  • Post opening and dispatch.
  • Communicating via email, letters, face-to-face, and telephone.
  • Drafting standard letters, correspondence, minutes, notes, reports, and submissions according to guidelines.
  • Ensuring compliance and quality standards for administration documentation.
  • Performing ad hoc admin tasks such as photocopying, scanning, and filing.

The ideal candidate will have 12-18 months of administrative experience in a workplace setting.
