Job summary

WRAC Association is recruiting an Administration and Grants Officer to support the charity's HQ operations, including benevolent fund caseload management, member support and general output. The role requires careful administration and compassionate engagement with applicants and members.

You will manage grant awards, coordinate events, and liaise with partners and volunteers, contributing to the smooth running of this busy team, with occasional travel.

Qualifications

  • Be a skilled administrator with a flexible approach.
  • Experience in a member or public-facing organisation.
  • Experience of managing caseloads and carrying out detailed casework.
  • Sound knowledge of how individual grants are awarded.
  • Strong understanding of SSAFA, TRBL and other caseworking/

Responsibilities

  • Support benevolent fund caseload management and general Association output.
  • Provide member support and respond to enquiries with empathy and professionalism.
  • Coordinate grants from minor requests to major awards; maintain records.
  • Assist with events and member engagement; liaise with partners and volunteers.

The WRAC Association is theUK's largest membership organisation of female veterans - a financially sustainable £8m charity which aims to provide camaraderie, benevolence and support to women who have served in the Army. Additionally, we aim to exert influence within the military charity sector to broaden support for all female veterans and current servicewomen of the UK Armed Forces.

We are recruiting for an Administration and Grants Officer to support the output of our HQ, including benevolent fund caseload management, member support, and general Association output. Some travel is expected to support membership events inc. evenings & weekends, with occasional overnight stays. As our Administration and Grants Officer you will play a crucial role within our busy and friendly team, with responsibility for managing our benevolent fund whilst contributing strongly to the overall running of our vibrant charity.

Our benevolent fund awards over £200k in grants per year to an average of 120 applicants, from minor requests to major grants, and annual maintenance. We organise both national and local events for our members to attend where they meet up with old friends, remember those we have lost, support each other, have a lot of fun and make new and lasting memories. We have approaching 5000 active members which continues to grow as we reach out to many more female veterans across all three Services eligible to join our Association.

You will:

  • Be a skilled administrator, with a flexible approach
  • have experience of working in a member or public-facing organisation, supporting and liaising with a diverse cohort of individuals in a wide variety of interests and needs
  • have experience of managing caseloads and carrying out detailed casework
  • have a sound knowledge of how individual grants are awarded
  • have a strong understanding of the work of SSAFA, TRBL & other caseworking and almonising agencies
  • understand the value of strong communication and be experienced in engaging people from many walks of life, tailoring your communication style to a variety of audiences
  • be skilled at building positive working relationships, with a friendly and engaging manner
  • be highly organised with great attention to detail, and work well within a small staff team where each team member is expected to pitch in and work collaboratively
  • Be engaging and welcoming, able to attend events and interact with members of the public

Based on the outskirts of Winchester - in-person, office based.

4 days (30 hours)

Salary up to FTE £33,000 (4 days - £26,400) depending on experience.
