Job summary

Alloyed Limited is establishing a high-volume additive manufacturing facility at Harwell campus, with occasional travel to other Oxfordshire sites for training. We seek a motivated Additive Manufacturing Technician to set up, run, and monitor LPBF machines, manage depowdering and post-processing, and ensure parts meet exact specifications.

Normal hours are 9:00–17:30, with occasional shifts 6:00–14:30 or 13:30–22:00.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating metal LPBF systems.
  • Experience with powder handling and depowdering procedures, including safety protocols for metal powders.
  • Strong process discipline, following established procedures in a production environment.
  • Comfortable with structured, repeatable workflows and flagging deviations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and hands-on attitude.
  • Organised and able to work independently, but collaborative.

Responsibilities

  • Operating additive manufacturing/3D printing equipment.
  • Running post-processing equipment such as automatic depowdering machines.
  • Communicating with production management and engineers to understand needs and scheduling.
  • Supporting operational excellence through adherence to processes and escalation of improvements.
  • Maintaining 5S, equipment care and safety practices.

Role Overview

Production Solutions, a division of Alloyed, is currently setting up a serial production facility for mass producing advanced highly optimised metallic components. The premise is simple, we are developing a state-of-the-art facility for the high-volume production of additively manufactured parts for the electronics, aerospace and industrial sectors.

Production Solutions is seeking a motivated and experienced Additive Manufacturing Technician responsible for setting up, running, and monitoring additive manufacturing machines to produce parts to specification, including material handling and depowdering.

You will be based in Alloyed’s site in the Harwell campus, but travel to other Alloyed sites in Oxfordshire may be required from time to time for training purposes. A highly competitive remuneration package is offered.

Normal working hours 9am - 5.30pm. However, some flexibility may be required to cover morning shifts (6am-2:30pm) and evening shifts (1:30pm-10pm) on occasion.

  • Operating additive manufacturing/3D printing equipment
  • Running post-processing equipment such as automatic depowdering machines
  • Communicating with production management and engineers to understand their needs, scheduling and performing work accordingly
  • Supporting operational excellence through disciplined adherence to approved manufacturing processes and escalation of improvement opportunities through established channels
  • Maintaining good health, 5S principles, first-line equipment care and safety practices
Essential skills
  • Experience operating metal LPBF systems.
  • Experience with powder handling and depowdering procedures, including safety protocols for metal powders
  • Strong process discipline, following established procedures and work instructions accurately and consistently in a production-controlled environment
  • Comfortable working within structured, repeatable workflows while proactively flagging deviations or anomalies
  • Excellent attention to detail, hands-on attitude and willingness to learn new skills
  • Organised and able to work independently, but also to collaborate with a diverse, fast-moving team
Desired skills
  • Experience working with LBPF Renishaw / EOS systems
  • Willingness to work flexible hours if needed
  • Aerospace or regulated manufacturing experience
