Role: Additional Needs Teaching Assistant
Hourly Rate: £13.68 – £15.00

We are working with a forward-thinking and inclusive school in York that provides outstanding support for young people with a range of complex needs. The school is committed to celebrating every learner’s individuality and nurturing their personal and academic growth within a safe and structured environment.
We are seeking to appoint a calm, creative, and resilient Additional Needs Teaching Assistant to join the team from September. The role involves supporting pupils with communication difficulties, ADHD, and sensory processing challenges – helping them access the curriculum and thrive both emotionally and socially.
This position is ideal for someone with a genuine interest in SEN and a flexible, learner-centred approach to support. While previous experience with special needs is advantageous, the school welcomes candidates with the right attitude and a passion for inclusive education.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
• Supporting pupils across the school with a variety of additional needs
• Working collaboratively with teaching and support staff to adapt learning to meet individual needs
• Encouraging positive interactions and promoting communication and independence
• Providing a consistent and understanding presence in the classroom and beyond
• Engaging in ongoing professional development around SEN strategies and approaches
This is a full-time, term-time role starting in September, offering personalised CPD, access to specialist training, and the opportunity to become part of a highly experienced and supportive team.
