Job summary

St Leonards School in St Andrews is seeking a Cover Supervisor (Ad Hoc) to support learning during short-term absence of teaching staff. You will supervise classes in a centralised space and ensure pre-set work is completed, while maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.

You will manage pupil behaviour, follow safeguarding policies, and ensure resources are distributed and returned properly. This is an ad hoc role requiring flexibility and commitment to the school’s IB framework.

Responsibilities

• 1) Classroom Supervision and Learning Support: Supervise pupils in the centralised cover space in the absence of the regular subject teacher, ensuring they remain on task and engaged in learning.
• 2) Classroom and Behaviour Management: Maintain a safe, orderly, and purposeful learning environment in accordance with the St Leonards Code of Conduct for Staff and Volunteers.
• 3) Health, Safety, and Safeguarding: Act in full accordance with St Leonards Child Protection and Safeguarding policies, ensuring the safety, health, and wellbeing of pupils at all times.
• 4) General and Operational Responsibilities: Register pupil attendance, liaise with the School Office regarding daily duty allocations, timetable adjustments, and availability, and uphold the school ethos.
