Job summary

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in Acute Neurosciences to assess, treat and manage adults with acquired communication and/or swallowing disorders, and to develop specialist clinical skills in acute neuroscience settings.

The role includes supervision and opportunities to develop instrumental assessment and tracheostomy competencies, while managing a complex caseload within a supportive, dynamic department.

Qualifications

• Assess and treat adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
• Develop specialist clinical skills in acute neurosciences.
• Contribute to instrumental swallowing assessments and tracheostomy competencies.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage a caseload of adults with communication/swallowing disorders.
• Make differential diagnoses based on assessments.
• Devise and evaluate individualized treatment plans.
• Refer for instrumental swallowing assessments.
• Maintain records of assessments and treatments.
