Job summary

Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust in Wakefield (Pinderfields) seeks a Consultant in Acute Medicine for a full-time post (10 PA). The role centres on the Acute Medical Unit and Same Day Emergency Care, with consultant-present duties across sites and evening/weekend on-call responsibility.

You will join a multidisciplinary team, participate in teaching and professional activities, and contribute to service development while delivering high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• GMC registration with licence to practise.
• Registered in General Medicine.
• CCT in AIM or CESR in AIM eligibility.
• Medical Degree from recognised medical school.
• MRCP or equivalent.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• Recent registrar/consultant-level experience.
• Strong problem solving and time management.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-call and consultant-present care across sites, focusing on AMU and SDEC.
• Daytime rounds as part of the weekly timetable with liaison to ED.
• Weekday evenings and weekend on-call with a respiratory colleague.
• Support subspecialties with on-call teams and contribute to SPA time.
• Lead or participate in teaching and departmental leadership as needed.
