Job description

Location and flexible working: London, working from our centrally located office three days per week, Tuesday to Thursday. We recognise the benefits of flexible working and will discuss what is important to you and balancing this with business requirements during the recruitment process.

Salary and benefits: Between £40,000 and £65,000 depending on experience, plus 8% bonus up to 16%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension scheme, 12x salary life assurance, income protection, 3 volunteering days, and more.

We have a unique opportunity to join Standard Life’s award-winning Defined Benefit Solutions team as a BPA Pricing Analyst, supporting the pricing and management of our extensive book of BPA clients.

Candidate requirements:
  • Experience working in DB pension consultancies or the pension risk transfer market.
  • Interest or experience in DB Liability Modelling.
  • Enjoyment of technical work in pension risk transfer transactions.
The role:
  • Support Pricing Actuaries and Managers in pricing and managing BPA transactions.
  • Assist Client Services with onboarding, data cleansing, GMP equalisation, and transition processes.
  • Model pension scheme liabilities to generate benefit cash flows.
  • Assess capital requirements and perform sensitivity analyses for pricing and governance.
  • Develop and maintain actuarial models with robust controls.
What we’re looking for:
  • Part-qualified actuary aiming for full qualification, supported by Phoenix Group.
  • Practical experience in actuarial cash flow modelling for pensions.
  • Strong technical knowledge of defined benefit pensions and associated calculations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of financial services regulations, including Solvency II and the Matching Adjustment, and experience in bulk annuity modelling.
