At Zurich, we are committed to supporting every employee to progress in their careers and therefore encourage internal moves through a transparent posting and selection process. We also ask you to inform your current line manager about your application beyond the first interviews in the spirit of transparency.

The opportunity:

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the UK P&C Zurich Municipal (ZM) team in London or Fareham as an actuarial analyst. As a member of the team, you will be involved in producing the quarterly reserving exercises across multiple lines of business and assisting in communication of the financial risk and its consequences – all of which are fundamentally important to our business. You will also be involved in developing and automating the reserving and financial reporting processes within the ZM Reserving team. You will help design innovative solutions by collaboration with actuaries and other functions in the UK & Group.

Using analytical and mathematical skills, you’ll work alongside some of the most talented qualified actuaries, as well as liaising with other areas of the business, including Finance and Underwriting.

Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

What will you be doing?

  • Preparing and performing actuarial analysis including loss projections, technical reserves calculation for gross and reinsurance layers and cash flow projections.
  • Developing and automating the reserving and financial reporting processes within the ZM Reserving team. Ensure the appropriate execution and transition of new processes into business as usual.
  • Helping ensure the timely delivery and accuracy of reserving data, actuarial bookings and reconciliations as well as any other Group and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing finance, other reserving actuaries, pricing, underwriting and claims with insights into underlying performance and implication for the business.
  • Performing ad-hoc deep dive analyses.
  • Supporting the business strategy with robust planning and forecasting processes.

What are we looking for?

  • Part-Qualified actuary, and actively studying for the Actuarial exams.
  • A high level of numeracy skills and an analytical approach to work is essential.
  • Data management and good programming skills (e.g. SQL, R, VBA) are considered a strong advantage
  • Excellent team-working, communication and interpersonal skills are also required.
  • A serious and professional attitude towards compliance of regulatory submissions with an eye for attention to detail in order to support accuracy.
  • Enthusiastic and positive can-do attitude.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and driven to deliver to set deadlines.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility.

What happens next?
