Job summary

Stafford House, in Canterbury, invites you to join as an Activity Leader to plan and deliver engaging activities for international students aged 16–60, helping them explore UK culture and make lasting memories.

This role offers flexible hours on a 0-hour contract, full induction and ongoing training, safeguarding commitments with Enhanced DBS, and opportunities to develop in education, hospitality, sports, or drama.

Qualifications

• Experience leading activities for groups of students or learners.
• Understanding how to promote wellbeing and safeguarding of young people.
• Willingness to learn about local culture and deliver diverse activities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver fun activities and excursions for students in Canterbury.
• Encourage participation and lead groups in a variety of activities.
• Escort groups on activities and excursions from park games to city walks.
• Commit to safeguarding with Enhanced DBS checks.
• Supervise student behaviour and wellbeing; assist with residential duties if needed.
• Support a multicultural learning environment.

This is a fun, high-energy role where you’ll plan and lead activities for international students, helping them explore UK culture and make lasting memories. Our school is accessible by car- with free parking available, by bus or train, making it easily accessible from the local areas.

What does the role involve?

• Preparing and delivering fun activities and excursions for our students (ages ranging from 16-60) in and around Canterbury
• Actively encourage our students to get involved, leading by example
• Escorting groups of students, leading in a variety of activities and excursions from park games to pub nights, museums to city walks
• Commitment to safeguarding – successful candidates will undergo an Enhanced DBS check
• Supervising student behaviour, ensuring our students safety and well-being at all times
• Optional involvement in residential duties - caring for the health, safety, and wellbeing of our residential students (see job description for more details)

What you’ll need to be an Activity Leader:

• Lots of confidence and enthusiasm – you don’t need to be an expert in any specific activity, just have the interest and ability to lead a range of activities for young people.
• Be professional, friendly, and supportive, with a good understanding of how to promote the well-being of young people.
• Have a good knowledge of life in Canterbury and the surrounding area
• Be flexible, adaptable, and able to think on your feet.
• Be a strong communicator with a good level of spoken and written English (equivalent to CEF level C1 / CAE / IELTS 6.5).
• Able to provide excellent customer service
• Additional languages are a bonus but are not required
• Safeguarding is a key part of the role, and we take it very seriously. As part of our safer recruitment policy, successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check.
