Junior Adventures Group at Cavendish Junior School in Derby is hiring a Childcare Activity Leader. The role covers breakfast and after-school clubs for children aged 4-11, with split shifts from 7:30-9:00am and 3:00-6:00pm during term time.

You’ll deliver engaging activities, supervise with care, and help with snacks and sign-in/out. The position offers overtime during holiday camps and a supportive, energetic team.

• Deliver exciting, age-appropriate activities such as multi-sports, arts and crafts, group games, and creative play.
• Set up engaging play spaces and keep them safe, clean, and welcoming.
• Supervise children with care and enthusiasm, ensuring each child feels safe and included.
• Prepare snacks and manage sign-in/out with a friendly, detail-oriented approach.
• Work split shifts: 7:30-9:00am and 3:00-6:00pm, with potential hours during holiday clubs.
• Be a team player and also take the lead when needed.

Job Description

Childcare Activity Leader

Location: Cavendish Junior School, Deborah Dr, Derby DE21 4RJ
Hours: 11.75 hrs per week, spread across 5 breakfast club shifts and 2 afternoon noon shifts per week.(Breakfast club 7:30am-9:00am and Afterschool club 3:00pm-6:00pm)
Pay: Up to £12.71 per hour depending on age
Contract: Term time, with the option to work overtime in our holiday camps

At Junior Adventures Group, we’re not just childcare, we’re champions of fun! From football to face painting, scavenger hunts to snack time, you'll bring smiles, laughter, and energy to our Breakfast & After School Clubs for children aged 4-11.

This role is split shift, meaning you'll work mornings and afternoons, with a break in between (great for studying, hobbies, family, or even a nap!). You’ll also have the opportunity to increase your hours during Holiday Club seasons and Lunchtime Cover.

• Be a team player who can also take the lead when needed.

What we’re looking for:

• Someone who loves working with children and brings a positive, can-do attitude
• A creative thinker who knows how to turn an ordinary afternoon into a magical experience
• A team player who’s also confident running activities and managing a group
• Bonus points if you have experience in teaching, coaching, childcare, or youth work (but not essential, personality goes a long way!)
