Job summary

Cavendish Junior School, in Derby, is seeking a friendly Childcare Activity Leader to support breakfast and after-school clubs. The role is part-time, with shifts from 7:30–9:00am and 3:00–6:00pm, offering a fun, dynamic environment for children aged 4–11.

As part of Junior Adventures Group, you’ll help deliver engaging activities, ensure safety, and enjoy a collaborative team culture with training and progression opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exciting, age-appropriate activities such as multi-sports and arts & crafts
• Set up engaging play spaces and maintain a safe, clean environment
• Supervise children with enthusiasm and ensure inclusivity
• Prepare snacks and manage sign-in/out with a friendly approach
• Work split shifts: 7:30–9:00am and 3:00–6:00pm
• Lead activities when needed and be a reliable team member

Childcare Activity Leader

Location: Cavendish Junior School, Deborah Dr, Derby DE21 4RJ
Hours: 11.75 hrs per week, spread across 5 breakfast club shifts and 2 afternoon noon shifts per week. (Breakfast club 7:30am – 9:00am and Afterschool club 3:00pm – 6:00pm)
Pay: Up to £12.71 per hour depending on age
Contract: Term time, with the option to work overtime in our holiday camps

At Junior Adventures Group, we’re not just childcare, we’re champions of fun! From football to face painting, scavenger hunts to snack time, you'll bring smiles, laughter, and energy to our Breakfast & After School Clubs for children aged 4–11.
This role is split shift, meaning you'll work mornings and afternoons, with a break in between (great for studying, hobbies, family, or even a nap!). You’ll also have the opportunity to increase your hours during Holiday Club seasons and Lunchtime Cover.

What you'll do day-to-day:

• Deliver exciting, age-appropriate activities like multi-sports, arts & crafts, group games, and creative play.
• Set up engaging play spaces and keep things safe, clean, and awesome.
• Supervise children with care and enthusiasm, ensuring every child feels welcome, safe, and included.
• Prepare snacks and manage sign-in/out processes with a friendly face and attention to detail.
• Work split shifts: 7:30–9:00am and 3:00–6:00pm, perfect for work-life balance or those seeking part-time fun!
• Be a team player who can also take the lead when needed.

What we’re looking for:
